Mayday has been providing a welcoming, happy and safe environment for pre-school children for forty years.

Over the years, and in line with OFSTED requirements, and new legislation of pre-school education, Mayday has developed into a pre-school for two to five year olds.

We believe that childhood is a very special time, and we aim to provide a happy, child-centred, safe and stimulating environment. The children play, grow and develop through a wide range of fun activities, which are based around the early year's foundation stage curriculum. As well as indoor activities, our preschool benefits from a large secure outside space, plus a garden area for the children to dig and plant.

Our ethos is very much one of learning through play. When children are happy, confident and enjoying themselves, they are more open to new learning experiences. This does not mean that the children are left to play without any structure, quite the opposite; the activities are planned in line with the National Curriculum's Early Years Foundation Stage for children (EYFS). We provide the environment and the practitioners to provide your child with as many opportunities as possible, to enable him or her to develop.

Children at Mayday learn through playing and doing, and through being with adults who are polite, considerate and respectful to other adults and to children. We are proud of our team of caring, qualified staff at Mayday Playschool, and provide a high ratio of adults to children, giving your child the care and attention they need from two years of age until school entry.

We are partnered with Medway's Early Years team, and they are regularly inspected by OFSTED to ensure high standards of care and education for your children are met.

We have close links with the local Infant school, and make weekly visits to use their PE facilities. Teachers from the foundation stage visit us to meet the children and staff in preparation for the children starting school.
